Skylar

Skylar is the impetus for this project. She came into our lives in an effort to save our pittie, Leo. He was in the process of dying from a broken heart after his bonded pair, Kaiya, passed from bone cancer. We were not ready to rescue again due to the excruciating pain of losing Kaiya, but Leo came first. We looked at Best Friends in South Central Los Angeles (NKLA). Leo needed a mama that was a little older than he. Before he went in, I told Leo that he was the one that needed to pick his new family. So, the first dog entered the room. Leo turned his butt to the dog, deadpan expression, and looked me dead in the eyes saying, “Is this clear enough for you, Mom?” I said “Crystal”. This occurred two more times. Then, Skylar came in. Leo got up and started wagging his tail for the first time in a month. He had a smile on his face. Skylar came directly over to him and licked his face.
